Megan Fox Jonah Hex Poster

‘It’s a western and there were not really a lot of things that women did back then,’ Fox explains.

From Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” to Jodie Foster in “Taxi Driver” and Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman,” in Hollywood, playing a prostitute can seem like a rite of passage for many actresses. Screen vixen Megan Fox will join the ranks of A-listers cast as paid temptresses when “Jonah Hex” opens on Friday. Fox plays gun-toting, no-nonsense prostitute Lila in the Warner Bros. comic book adaptation.

When MTV News caught up with the star, she suggested that all actors should at some point take on the role of lady of the night. (Actually, she even recommended it to our own Josh Horowitz, but added he might first consider shaving what she called his “Jaws” beard.)

“Everyone should do it at least once,” said Fox, who endured her share of discomfort while filming in her character’s tight-fitting vintage corset. Fox explained that Lila’s occupation was reflective of the period in which “Jonah Hex” is set, a time when women were often forced into prostitution because of a dearth of alternative work options.

“[The film] is not a spaghetti western but it’s a western and there were not really a lot of things that women did back then,” the 24-year-old told MTV News. “They did the child-rearing and as vocation or occupation — and unfortunately it was hard times — they were prostitutes. That’s just the reality of the time period.”

The former Transformers star on her new comic book movie, Jonah Hex.

She may no longer be part of the Transformers film franchise, but Megan Fox hasn’t left genre films behind her. Fox stars opposite Josh Brolin in this weekend’s new release Jonah Hex, an action-heavy supernatural Western based on the DC comic.

IGN attended a press conference Sunday in L.A. with Fox, Brolin, director Jimmy Hayward and producer Andrew Lazar, during which time Fox spoke about her character in the film — a tough but tender frontier prostitute named Lilah — but was, quite diplomatically and uncharacteristically, mum about her recent departure from Transformers 3. Here’s what she had to say about working on Jonah Hex:

Q: Megan, what was it like to get away from those robots?

Megan Fox: I like working on action films, and I like working on movies that are comic book based, or that have this theme, because they’re things I watched or loved as a kid. So it wasn’t really about getting away from the robots, if that’s what you were saying. I enjoyed making both films.

24-year-old actress Megan Fox said she has told the odd white lie in some interviews in the past but regrets doing so now.

“Everything I say becomes scandalous,” the actress says in a one on one in Interview magazine.

Fox, who is barley recognizable in a lustrous photo shoot wearing a retro bob wig, told interviewer/actor Zach Galifianakis that she isn’t a big fan of interviews.

“I don’t want to open my mouth or speak anymore,” Megan said.

Megan explains, “I’m one of those people who fiercely guards their privacy, so I hate doing interviews.”

She admits, in fact, to lying during interviews to protect herself.

“I have said some things to throw people off the scent of what’s really going on in my life. So I have sort of aided the media in printing these misconceptions, which I regret.”

She adds: “at this point, I’m not going to go out of my way to mislead people … that doesn’t really get me anywhere”

Megan Fox may be only 24, but in celebrity years she’s practically geriatric. At an age when many actresses are still asking if you want ketchup with your fries, she has appeared in an array of movies and TV sitcoms; stripped to her skivvies for men’s magazines and served up provocative sound bits; been anointed the next Angelina Jolie thanks to her dark hair, pillowy lips, tattoos, and general aura of danger; and had a few public feuds.

But Fox is now keeping her audience off balance, executing what seems to be a dignified retreat. She’s choosing small, independent movie projects, starring in sexy but sophisticated ads for Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani underwear, and modulating her outrageous remarks…somewhat. Is it because she’s overwhelmed by all the attention she’s attracted? Is she making a calculated career move under the guidance of concerned advisors? Or could it be that the actress, who left Port St. Lucie, Florida, for Hollywood when she was 17, is just a complicated, contradictory person, still figuring out what she wants out of adulthood?
When she’s speaking, Fox–standard off-duty uniform of black leggings and baggy gray T-shirt not quite managing to mute her inherent look-at-me quality–is, more than anything else, surprising.

All those racy interviews? Part of the job.
In the past, Fox teased the press with stories such as the possibly fictional (or embellished) tale about an affair with a Russian stripper named Nikita. This perhaps earned her more scrutiny for her imagined sex life than for her onscreen performances. “I was really open when I first started,” she says now. “Trying to be lighthearted and have a sense of humor and engage in some sort of satire sometimes. It did backfire to a certain extent, and it became too exhausting. I still have the same sense of humor, but I have no desire to express it, really, anymore, because I’ve always been fucked for doing so.”
While she’s certainly comfortable with her sexuality, often posing and acting in revealing clothes and not shying away from love scenes like the one with Amanda Seyfried in Jennifer’s Body, she maintains a strong sense of privacy. Today, for example, she learns about a blurry picture of herself topless, taken on a cell phone, that was leaked while she was filming a new independent movie, Passion Play, in which she plays a circus-sideshow performer who has bird wings. “If I knew who took this picture, I would personally cause them harm–physical harm,” she says. “I’m not a fucking reality-TV star that’s courting the paparazzi and wants my fucking picture taken all the time. I’m at my job and I’m trying to play a character and I’m trying to be serious, and this is the shit that’s happened to me. It makes me furious.”

Megan Fox covers Allure magazine’s June 2010 issue. Megan is described as having a “dirty mind” and “clean hands” in the June 2010 issue of Allure, on newsstands May 25.

When she arrives for her cover shoot at Milk Studios in Los Angles, the 23-year-old actress had her Kindle with her; queued up was New York Times best-seller “Jesus Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don’t Know About Them).” Here’s what Megan shared with the mag:

On the topless pic that was leaked while filming Passion Play: “If I knew who took this picture, I would personally cause them harm — physical harm, I’m not a f—ing reality-TV star that’s courting the paparazzi and wants my f—ing picture taken all the time. I’m at my job and I’m trying to play a character and I’m trying to be serious, and this is the sh– that’s happening to me. It makes me furious.”

On plastic surgery: “I would encourage anyone to first speak with a therapist, to try and figure out where this want comes from, because a lot of times it’s not related to your teeth or your nose or your chin — the surgery is not going to alleviate that insecurity for you. If, then, you feel, This is something that I want to do, then do it. It’s amazing that we have the technology to do the stuff that we do.”

On avoiding industry events: “Everyone blows sunshine up everyone else’s ass. I hate receiving compliments; I hate being told I’m talented or people think I’m going to be a movie star. I always feel that it’s forced and fake.”

Megan revealed that she suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and has problems with everyday scenarios in the interview.

She explained, “This is a sickness, I have an illness. Every time someone uses a bathroom and they flush, all the bacteria is shot into the air.”

Ms. Fox also brings her own silverware wherever she goes. “Putting my mouth where a million other mouths have been, just knowing all the bacteria that you carry in your mouth? Ucch!”

The interview seems to be very interesting, so don’t forget to buy the magazine. It will be on newsstands on May 25th.

Transformer hottie Megan Fox admits she’s “not ugly” and finds Hollywood’s marketing her as a sex symbol “empowering.”

She says being a sex symbol doesn’t bother her. “I don’t know why someone would complain about that. That just means that the bar has been set pretty low,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

“People don’t expect me to do anything that’s worth watching. So I can only be an overachiever. I think all women in Hollywood are known as sex symbols. That’s what our purpose is in this business. You’re merchandised, you’re a product. You’re sold and it’s based on sex. But that’s okay. I think women should be empowered by that, not degraded.”

Megan Fox can count the number of guys she’s slept with on one hand.

“I’ve only been with two men my entire life,” the actress, 23, tells the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar (via Huffington Post). “My childhood sweetheart and Brian.”

Fox has been dating (and engaged to) former 90210 star Brian Austin Green on and off since 2004.

She continues, “I can never have sex with someone that I don’t love, ever. The idea makes me sick. I’ve never even come close to having a one-night stand.”

Megan Fox trudges onto a sound stage on the outskirts of Santa Fe, New Mexico, dressed like a college student: sweats, hiking boots and a puffy jacket, its fur-rimmed hood pulled tight over her head. She would blend in perfectly on campus—the soundstage is inside the theater of a community college—were it not for the words “Patricia Field” scrawled in gold rope along the back of the jacket. And were it not for the fact that Field herself gave Megan Fox the jacket, during the second season of Hope & Faith, the sitcom on which Field served as costume designer and Megan Fox portrayed a sullen, sexy teenager. After the New York–based series was canceled in 2006, the Florida-raised actress hightailed it to Los Angeles, where she has been living ever since. The gold-adorned puffer remains her only winter coat.

Megan Fox wishes she looked a little more sophisticated in her skivvies.

“There are some women you could put in underwear and photograph them, and it looks really classy and it doesn’t necessarily provoke a pinup image,” the actress, 23, tells the March issue of W magazine.

“But with me, it does, immediately. As soon as I’m in underwear, I’m a Vargas girl,” adds Fox, referring to the curvy women featured in ads from the 1940s.

Fox says she has “no confidence, and because of that, I’m always second-guessing myself.”

She also doesn’t have a lot of famous friends (besides beau Brian Austin Green, whom she’s been dating on and off since 2004).

“I especially don’t trust girls in this industry, because it’s incredibly competitive, and I’m just not interested,” she tells the magazine.
